The recent Cumulus Neuroscience publication in Frontiers in Digital Health represents a major milestone for the company. It all started in 2020 when the company was formed to develop NeuLogiq® - a single, unified platform to provide frequent, reliable, at-home measures of brain function, including EEG - to overcome the many challenges associated with traditional clinic-based measures. This effort was driven by the visionary Ruth McKernan who co-founded Cumulus alongside our CSO Brian Murphy, PhD. That same year, the Cumulus Pharma Advisory Group (CPAG) was formed, consisting of scientists from 10 of the world’s largest biopharma companies. CPAG members helped design our first-of-its-kind CNS-101 study and provided guidance throughout. It goes without saying that 2020 was not the best year to launch a new company. The COVID-19 pandemic had a direct impact on the timing of what would become a series of three NeuLogiq® Platform validation studies. Despite these roadblocks, CNS-101 started enrolling participants in 2022. CNS-101 was focused on answering 2 key questions: · First, can patients use the platform reliably at home over the course of 12 months to generate high-quality, objective data across multiple domains including cognition, mood, EEG, sleep and speech? · Second, can NeuLogiq detect the progression of Alzheimer’s dementia more accurately than traditional ‘snapshot in time’ clinic-based measures including the ADAS-Cog? This publication answers the first question. The NeuLogiq Platform can be used successfully over a full year by patients living with mild Alzheimer's disease dementia. Participants completed 99.7% of initiated sessions and sustained 77% adherence across a demanding 52-week protocol — notable retention in this population — compared with 88.8% for healthy controls. The amount of data collected in this study is staggering - over 1,250 hours of wake EEG data, over 13,800 hours of multi-modal assessment data including nearly 100 hours of speech data and 12,625 hours of sleep EEG data.
