Taste was one of the key themes from this year's Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. My thoughts are: taste tells you what you like. Discernment tells you why, and whether it still holds up, in a different context, under different constraints. "Discernment is an innate human quality. It compounds over time, it gets sharper with more data, emotion and more context, and it’s the only version of “knowing what someone likes” that’s actually worth building infrastructure around."
