https://lnkd.in/dF55stis Last weeks Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Fiancung Dialogue reminded us about the importance of WASH investments for human capital development and overall economic development. The importance of WASH has again been brought to the fore during the ongoing Ebola outbreak. We know that infection prevention in health facilities is impossible without WASH facilities, commodities and services. But the question is why do we have to have an outbreak to allocate funding for WASH and infection preventing. This should be a priority before, during and after outbreaks. Outbreaks are unpredictable but what is predictable is that outbreaks will occur. And one of the proven ways to prevent spread of outbreaks is through WASH and IPC intervention - resilient WASH facilities in health facilities, schools and communities are therefore critical. This dialogue should not end in the meeting room but commitments and actions need to be followed up on. There were comments that the climate aspects did not come up as prominently.,Given the importance of climate resilient WASH services, water conservation, waste disposal, etc, we need to highlight this in subsequent such meetings. #UNICEF #ForEveryChild #InvestInUGChildren
