Not sure why professionals do this. I get many messages on LinkedIn where candidates say, "Can you please refer me to a relevant vacancy in your organization or other organisation" So I am expected to review their profile/CV & search for relevant openings & refer them? That's outsourcing the entire job hunt. I try to help but such messages just flood the inbox & don't serve any purpose. What should they do instead: Check the careers portal. Find the exact role you're a fit for. Then message: "Hi, I noticed [Role] is open at your company. I have experience in X and Y - would you be open to referring me?" A little homework on your end makes it effortless for the person on the other side to say yes. Applies to everyone you're messaging for a job.
