Rethinking Almost Everything Question#1: Over the course of my career, I've had the privilege of working alongside some extraordinary people. People who challenged my assumptions. People who made me re-evaluate what I thought I knew about... well, pretty much everything. Last month, I presented a paper I wrote with Margaret Kalaugher called 'A National Transition Framework for a Thriving Future' at the 2026 Conference on Regenerative Futures. Now, I appreciate that getting excited about a paper that includes 'framework' in the title may be standard civil engineer behaviour, but the phrase "a thriving future" is what actually made me think. What is a thriving future?ย  It sounds obvious. Who wouldn't want one? But the more I thought about it, the more I wondered whether we all mean the same thing when we say it. So I'm starting a series called Rethinking Almost Everything. Not because I have the answers. I definitely don't. But because I suspect that most the important conversations start with better questions. And this seems like a good place to begin.
