Oprah Winfrey shared a message at SHRM2026 that really resonated with me: “Human resources isn’t just about spreadsheets and policies. It’s about human potential.” After more than 25 years in HR and talent acquisition, I couldn’t agree more. Some of the most meaningful parts of this profession will never make the headlines. It’s the candidate who finds a career they love. The employee who decides to stay because someone invested in their growth. The difficult conversation handled with dignity. The leader who learns to inspire instead of manage. The culture that quietly becomes a place where people can do their best work. One of Oprah’s observations especially resonated with me: regardless of title or success, people want to know they matter. They want to know they’re seen. I also appreciated her reminder to lead with intention. Before launching an initiative, making a decision, or having a tough conversation, it’s worth asking: What is the outcome we’re trying to create for people? HR has the privilege and responsibility to help shape that experience every day. It isn’t always easy, and much of the work happens behind the scenes, but when we get it right, we help individuals and organizations thrive. That’s one of the many reasons I’m proud to be in this profession. #SHRM26 #HumanResources #Leadership #PeopleFirst #CompanyCulture #EmployeeExperience #HRLeadership https://lnkd.in/gqc2KrY9
