A legacy Flanged Housing was decommissioned after decades of service. Due to severe mechanical wear, the component lost its rotational symmetry and was heavily distorted across its central axis. Blindly copying the "as-built" geometry would result in a faulty new part. The Workflow: High-Precision 3D Scanning: Captured the raw, distorted geometry using the Artec 3D Spider II. Feature Extraction: Imported the high-resolution mesh into Geomagic Design X to identify critical primitives and reference planes. Geometric Correction: Re-aligned the warped central axis and restored perfect rotational symmetry based on the original design intent. The Result: A clean, symmetrical, and production-ready parametric CAD model tailored for manufacturing. Watch the fast-paced screen recording of the full reconstruction process below. #ReverseEngineering #3DScanning #Artec3D #SpiderII #GeomagicDesignX #Metrology #MechanicalEngineering #CADDesign #Manufacturing
