Take a glimpse into rehearsals for "Evident Truths," my latest work, commissioned by the U.S. Army Field Band as part of the America 250 celebration. It’s been exciting to hear the performers bring this piece to life. "Evident Truths" grew out of my own meditation on a line from the Declaration of Independence that stayed with me: “We hold these truths to be self evident.” I wanted something singable and danceable, so I decided to include a rapper and a vocal trio with the band. The piece will be featured on the Army Field Band’s Northeast America 250 Tour, with performances in Philadelphia and Gettysburg this July.
