A role requiring a candidate to live in a certain city isn’t a remote role. It’s hybrid. A remote role means you can be anywhere the IT & HR teams deem to be legal. LinkedIn & Indeed (and others) need to be stricter with these settings. Companies should be fined for posting non existent jobs, lying about the type of role, and for lying about location. The job market is hard enough, I loathe getting all the way through a crazy long job description just to see “Chicago area candidates only” or “must be within 2 hours of xxx.” 😡 Stop. Be honest, be forthcoming, and be moral. Otherwise go away.
