1951 war die UNESCO eine der ersten internationalen Organisationen, in die die junge Bundesrepublik eintrat - nur sechs Jahre nach Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs. Und auch heute, 75 Jahre später bleibt die Zusammenarbeit in internationalen Organisationen für unsere Außenpolitik essenziell. Wir feiern 75 Jahre Deutschland in der UNESCO und 75 Jahre deutsche UNESCO-Kommission, gemeinsam mit den zahlreichen Netzwerken der UNESCO - Welterbestätten, Biosphärenreservate, Geoparks, UNESCO-Institute und -Lehrstühle, UNESCO-Schulen. Wie Staatssekretär Dr. Géza von Geyr sagte: "Deutschland in der UNESCO - das war und das bleibt gut und wichtig!" In 1951, UNESCO was one of the first international organizations the young Federal Republic of Germany joined—just six years after the end of World War II. And now, 75 years later, cooperation within international organizations remains essential to our foreign policy. We are celebrating 75 years of Germany in UNESCO and 75 years of the German Commission for UNESCO, together with UNESCO’s numerous networks—World Heritage sites, biosphere reserves, geoparks, UNESCO institutes and chairs, and UNESCO schools.
