Beyond thrilled to share my latest work and data piece! This one’s on modern love and dating, a topic I am always excited to talk about. So digging into the data and speaking to all my profiles and experts has been an absolute dream, I’m like TELL ME MORE 🍵🍵🍵 The story is in the interactive so I won’t spoil it here. Instead, I wanted to share some learnings from producing this story. 💙 This is a story I’ve been pitching for three years. It never took off, till now – 3/4 years later. Never give up on your stories (& your dreams haha). Even if it doesn’t happen right away, the right time will come. Though it will most probably appear in a different form than you might have expect but now looking back and reflecting, I think Rebecca Pazos – the first person who saw potential in my dating pitch – always believed in this. 🧡 All my favorite projects are collective efforts. I really wanted to explore the idea of windows, with annotations showing people in different dating or single situations. After our first brainstorm meeting, Marcelo Duhalde goes: “Maybe the setting could be in the evening, like a starry night” Charlotte Tan Xuan Ci: “It could be an endless HDB” Wei Xian Chee (who is literally a dev magician): “I saw the stars and wanted to make it move” Then Xaquín González Veira goes: (SPOILER ALERT!)“What if we have a soulmate... at the bottom of the HDB“ And obviously Alyssa Karla Mungcal understood the vision and translated all these ideas into a cohesive page. I think most the work we do here at ST graphics has a certain flavor that makes it ours, and I am so grateful for a team that always elevates the work. 💛 This project was stressful, the timeline was so tight and I didn't think that we could get it published. Always grateful for Hannah Ong and Stephanie Adeline for reminding me every day that I could do it. Having colleagues and friends who believe in you even when you don’t believe in yourself, as cliche as that sounds, was really what carried this project through.
