Happy to share our latest publication on 10 years of lymphatic reconstruction at the Universitätsspital Zürich. Since performing the first lymphatic surgery in Switzerland in 2015, we have experienced how reconstructive microsurgery can make a real difference for patients living with lymphedema. After becoming a Lymphatic Education & Research Network Center of Excellence in 2022 we further developed the program focusing on improving not only clinical outcomes, but most of all patients` quality of life. Our practice evolved from LVA only to tailored personalised treatments including LVA, VLNT, LN-vein anastomoses and liposuction. Donor sites were adjusted to further refine treatment and reduce donor-site morbidity. Most importantly, the data show meaningful patient benefit - Next to limb volume reductions, episodes of erysipelas decreased by 87% and 30% of patients reduced or stopped wearing compression garments.
