It’s easy to say things, but not everyone has the courage to stand by their words. It takes real guts to fulfill a commitment once it’s been made. I’ve recently experienced this in my past company, where both verbal and written commitments turned out to be nothing more than empty promises. After building a small start-up from scratch into a stable position, and hearing every day that “this business is yours, this company is yours,” suddenly—without any fault of mine—once their purpose was served, I was told, “Sorry, we can’t continue, you should resign.” That, to me, is the mark of betrayal. But as they say, talent cannot be suppressed forever. So always love your work and become excellent at it. Don’t fall in love with a company, its leadership, or the promises they make. It’s easy to say that a company or an owner behaves a certain way, but if someone, after reaching a leadership role, follows the same toxic culture, then they are nothing but a failure. And this is the harsh reality of the corporate world—especially among the top players in our industry. “Kaam mein bhai chaara ek mithya hai… Chaalaak ke saath chaalak bano tho bachoge Werna maroge babu”
