From 26 to 28 March 2026, In Flanders Fields Museum will host “Displaced”, a conference that is part of the research project and permanent exhibition with the same name. https://lnkd.in/e354uR59 Experts and researchers will examine various aspects of displacement, flight and exile caused during the First World War. The focus will be on the largest exodus in Belgian history, but attention will also be paid to other chapters of displacement that took place elsewhere in Europe during and soon after the war had ended. Conference panels will present general historical overviews, specific themes, personal stories, research projects and the handling of refugee heritage in archives and museums. On the last day, there will be reflection and debate on the social role of museums and heritage institutions in relation to this theme. In addition to the panels, the conference also offers a cultural programme, including a visit to the exhibition, a city walk and a 'bar refuge'. And beyond that, Ypres and In Flanders Fields Museum are always worth a visit! On 26 March, Dutch will be the working language. On 27 and 28 March, English will be the working language.
