Last weekend, I travelled to Freiburg to watch the Frauen Bundesliga match between SC Freiburg and FC Bayern München. No boardroom. No meetings. Just football. There’s something powerful about sitting in the stands and simply experiencing the game, hearing the communication on the pitch, feeling the intensity of every transition, watching the small details that television doesn’t fully capture. What stood out to me most wasn’t just the quality (which was exceptional), but the professionalism around it. The structure. The organization. The respect for the women’s game. It felt intentional. As someone building football projects in Berlin, moments like this matter. They remind you why you started. They also quietly challenge you: are you building something that can reach this level of clarity and standard? Women’s football isn’t “growing”, it’s already strong. What’s happening now is refinement and scale. And being present in these environments gives perspective you simply can’t get from behind a laptop. Sometimes progress isn’t about making noise. It’s about observing. Learning. Raising your own standards. Daniel Olasanmiju Football Executive | President, Motherland Berlin Sports Club e.V.
