Wrapping up this year with one last visual story! If you’ve ever lived in Singapore, you’d notice things don’t stay the same for long. This one was born out of my own experience of living in the same home all my life and watching my (very ulu) neighbourhood transform over time. It made me wonder, if I can feel the speed of change in such an ulu neighbourhood, how much more can that change be felt in other parts of Singapore? That was the starting point of this story, it evolved multiple times along the way to what it is today, with the main visual being the gorgeous (GORGEOUS!) sketches of some beloved places in Singapore that existed in the past, by our most talented Marcelo Duhalde (ST digigraphics is in our 2d illustration era 😍 ). Loved that we got to experiment with the past to present transition sequence which was so fitting for this story. Biggest shout out to Wei Xian Chee my very trusty dev, for single handedly adjusting each of those annotations in the map section (which is gold btw please check it out) + Raphael, Roman Sverdan for gathering the map data, Peijie Rebekah Lee for overall styles and art direction, Shintaro Tay for photos. Also Ng Keng Gene for helping me fact check all the upcoming developments in the 55 planning areas (Yes, we looked through each plot of land for the whole of Singapore… everything was manual!) + many more on the team 😇 And Felicity Hwee-Hwa Chan for speaking to me and sharing your insights. Our conversations alone helped me process a little bit of that grief I feel whenever something gets torn down 🥲 Have a read here: https://lnkd.in/gJjdWTFA
