Last Friday, I had the honor of attending the Global IPMA Awards 2025 at the AXICA Event Location right next to the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. 🏆 It was a great privilege to be selected by Central to apply for the Individual Award though I did not make it to the finals. But Gracia Lacabex made it as the finalist to the Gold Award! — her impressive experience and immense dedication with Metro Lima L1 and Renfe High Capacity is outstanding and cannot be overtaken by anyone. The Metroline Taipei team also made it to the finals in the Mega-Sized Projects category and took first place. The team of Simon Cordier, Erica Wang, Thomas Chu, and Vinod Aripirala outperformed strong international competition. A personal highlight: I really enjoyed the cake brought by our colleagues from Taiwan! 🍰 I am especially grateful for the support and comforting words from my boss when it became clear that I would not be among the finalists. But hey – the competition was truly impressive. It’s quite something to be listed alongside such major projects as refineries or entire city district developments. 🏙️ Thank you, Imke Koch, Rebecca K., Anja Guske-Eppmann and more who supported me during the report preparation A special thanks goes to our IPMA Director at Alstom, Leila Mechentel, who successfully motivated, guided, and coordinated us throughout the application and award process. 🙏 And it was an honor to be accompanied by our VP Planning, Elena REGAL ZEIGER.
