Today we officially welcomed 601 new Cobbers at Concordia’s 2025 Convocation! Convocation is one of our most meaningful traditions — a moment when faculty, staff, and current students gather to welcome incoming students into the life and mission of the college. Together we celebrate their first steps on campus, their promise as learners and leaders, and our shared purpose: to influence the affairs of the world by sending into society thoughtful and informed men and women dedicated to the Christian life. We were inspired by a program filled with music, gratitude, and calls to engagement — from the Concordia Band’s stirring performances to words of encouragement from Provost Susan Larson, the Campus Pastors Kim and Dave, SGA President Rachel Huynh ’27, and Professor Leigh Wakefield (who reminded us that “we are all learners here”). And, of course, the sight of 601 new Cobbers tossing their beanies into the air on (C)Olin Hill was unforgettable — a truly momentous and memorable start to their Concordia journey. The day began and ended in a perfect way: with music. This afternoon, Professor Wakefield and one of his lucky students could be heard practicing in the shadow of President Dovre’s bell tower, a reminder that learning, mentoring, and beauty are woven into the very rhythms of this campus. Here’s to a year of courage, curiosity, and community. Welcome, Cobbers — we’re so glad you’re here! #CobberPride #ConcordiaCollege #Convocation2025 #CobberSpirit
