CEO Daimler Buses
A very special guest on a very special bus: Dr. Markus Söder, Minister-President of Bavaria, took a test ride on our all-electric Mercedes-Benz eIntouro. Our teams also enjoyed showing Mr. Söder around our production lines and answering his questions on the high complexity of manufacturing a bus. I want to thank Mr. Söder for visiting us, and for listening to our most pressing needs in terms of infrastructure ramp-up and bus-specific charging demands: ➊ A dense charging infrastructure is the prerequisite to the success of e-mobility; currently, the capacity is insufficient for a large number of commercial vehicles, both trucks and buses (less than 1,000 stations across the EU), ramp-up is too slow ➋ Bus-specific needs (stations close to tourist hot-spots, etc.) have to be considered in regulations (not the case today) ➌ Our proposal: review the CO₂ fleet targets for trucks and buses earlier (not in 2027), and link new targets directly to the rollout of charging infrastructure. Discussions like these are important to make sure our industry’s voice is heard. And as a little reminder of our company, we presented Mr. Söder with a very special coach model. Thanks to the team around Stefan Rumsch and Miriam Spleiß for creating it! #DaimlerBuses #nothingbutforward | Daimler Buses GmbH Daimler Truck AG
