Studio Katharina Grosse renowned for bold, immersive interventions, has once again magically transformed a public space. bLINK is a fascinating installation that reimagines the landscape with vivid pink light. With bLINK, Grosse invites us to picture a giant spotlight from outer space or at least somewhere very far casting a pink beam onto the world below. Everything that is touched by this imagined cone of light is pink: the railway bridge, the truss, the footpaths underneath. At the centre stands a monumental amorphous shape that is larger than my childhood home. It has landed on a railway bridge that spans the E6 motorway (which connects Gothenburg and Stockholm). Commissioned by Public Art Agency Sweden and developed as part of the extensive railway infrastructure redevelopment in southern Sweden by Trafikverket, bLINK blends art and engineering at an impressive scale. Hahner Technik GmbH & Co. KG played a pivotal role in the production, and I had the honour of contributing to the project. I produced this short video to document the production process and contributed communication and translation efforts. I deeply enjoyed to work on the video project with Jan-Lucas Hüsing doing most of the camera work. Further shots come from Ricard Estay and Jörgen Larsson Lindström. Thinking back now, I can only say it was wild to be part of this adventure and meet so many truly amazing people contributing their diverse skill sets: Bernhard Hahner, Herwig Bretis, Christoph Jestädt, Alexander Müller, Carl Maechel, Annica Ridell, Clas Ericsson, Sabine Pelka (to name a few that I can find here on LinkedIn to stand for the many more). https://lnkd.in/eENpB4Jx #publicart #pink #railway #structuralsteelengeneering #gothenburg
