Coming from one of the regions mentioned in the article, I am so incredibly proud to see Moravian wines gaining recognition on the international market. For years, Eastern European wines were misunderstood, if not entirely overlooked, by traditional wine regions. We were told our whites rely too much on acidity, that our reds lack body. But things are (hopefully) changing. In Eastern Europe, we have a deep connection to the land, and the current generation of winemakers is more knowledgeable and passionate than ever, blending the experience gained abroad with the traditions of our ancestors. It’s been wonderful to watch this wine renaissance unfold with my own eyes, discovering amazing wines every time I visit my grandparents in the south or travel further east. Personal favourites available in the UK: Krásná Hora Winery (Morava), Slobodne (Slovakia). Na zdraví! 🍷
