Finnish Government wants to allow irresponsible mining companies to lower the excellent water standard we have in our lakes and rivers to a just normal ecological water standard(one grade down). All this because of European need for critical earth metals for electric vehicles and appliances. All this could be understandable if all technical measures to mitigate the environmental pollution would be in use. But they are not. Facts are: 1. Heavy metals acid leachate is seeping into groundwater, rivers, lakes and sea because barriers don’t exist or are wrongly build. Tailing dams are designed seeping from the beginning 2. Purification of process water is insufficient and poisonous xanthates have no limits I was on live broadcast on tv together with the head of the Finnish Mining Federation having a debate on this topic. They say all is good and no risks exists. Why then the ponds are leaking metals? Why Finland let this to happen and spoils Lapland the last unique nature territory in Europe? link to MTV3 (Finnish) https://lnkd.in/dNpbSV5E
