A while back I was watching The Last Word With Lawrence O'Donnell on MSNBC and his guest went on to say Slavery in America lasted over 240 years!  Something I didn’t know and why I registered the name 240years com. I am not sure how I am going to build this site out, but I do know I am!   Very rarely does anything I see on TV shocks me, but this really set me back the moment I learned this basic fact. And I can’t even imagine what generation after generation went through! Millions of people being treated like property and a type of hate that became the norm.  When you listen to the stories of Black Women being raped and see the pictures of Black Men being lynched; you can’t stop the tears when you look at people in the crowd with smiles on their faces, and dressed as though they are going to church, it breaks my heart!   Sometimes I wish I never turned on the TV! Because I find myself asking God, The Universe why? My Heart & Soul needs to know what did these people do to deserve to be treated like animals and forced to pass on hell, to their kids, kids, kids, kids, kids?   So next year when you’re celebrating “Black History Month” take the time to tell your kids how long Slavery lasted, in the country you call home! It doesn't matter what color you are because the truth makes you a part of the future!   If we all work together we can give all our kids a better life; while letting the scars of history heal!
