Tulip-o-Mania, Holland | Between Nov-1636 & Feb-1637, tulip bulbs rose approx 12x in terms of price value. Why? Utility? Some say it was fashionable & scarce! Legends have it, that many saw this as their passport to enter the big-leagues. Whether they were able to do so, is for another day. Manias were true then, they are true now. In life, we must never confuse social proof for actionable evidence. While investing, we can keep things simple. Read 'The Intelligent Investor' by Ben Graham & skip the commentary by Jason Zweig in the newer editions of the book.
