An old memory with the great literary scholar Prof. Kulwant Singh Grewal, who was a Shiromani Punjabi awardee and was famous as the people's poet, left this mortal world today. He was a language scholar in Bengali from Jadavpur University, Calcutta. He was a well-known contemporary poet in both the Punjabi and Hindi literary circles. Prof. Grewal published various Punjabi books including Tera Ambran β€˜ch naan Likhiya, Asin Putt Dariyavan De, and has also authored eight books in English, Punjabi, Urdu and Hindi. Among many of his accomplishments, he was awarded the Dhaliwal Award in poetry and the Shiromani Kavi Award in 2014. He was also honoured by the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC), Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar. After retirement from the Punjabi University, Patiala, as Director, Professor Grewal remained associated as a Senior Fellow. His great wisdom, simplicity, dedication and selfless compassion was the constant source of inspiration for all. He will be remembered by the coming generations for his phenomenal contribution to the literature. His great literary works will surely outlive him forever.
