Biografical notes - "What do you have that you did not receive?" (New Testament, 1. Cor. 4, 7): Choirmaster Prof. Diethard Hellmann, born in Grimma, furthered the Leipzig Bach tradition as the founder and musical director of the Mainz Bach Choir and was the most influential teacher during my childhood and adolescence. He admitted me to his children’s choir at the age of five and later to the Kurrende and the Bach Choir, and I was permitted to participate in my first performance of Bach’s St Matthew Passion at the tender age of nine (soprano).
