Team Accountability Lab Zimbabwe have created a podcast series as part of their ALZFilmFellows program featuring conversations about film in Zimbabwe with some of the industry’s most respected voices. The first edition of the #FilmFridayPodcast featured Joe Njagu, producer of the Netflix romantic comedy “Cook Off” and Director of films including “The Gentleman”. Joe speaks about knowing from a young age that he was a storyteller, growing up in Chicago and spending every weekend at the local cinema, only to spend the following week narrating the storylines of the films he watched to his classmates. He describes himself as a storyteller who found film as a medium to tell his stories and believes passionately in supporting the next generation of storytellers. “[Storytellers] need that little encouragement from parents and teachers. It's not just about school, there needs to be a balance in Zimbabwe's curriculum,” he says.
