Yesterday AA NSW was in the Blue Mountains for our regional GM Lunch, hosted at Hotel Etico Australia’s new training academy. It was a valuable opportunity to bring local accommodation leaders together to discuss current trading conditions, workforce challenges, demand drivers and the opportunities ahead. AA NSW GM Stacey McBride provided an update on the Association’s priorities, industry trends, occupancy performance and forward demand indicators. Attendees also heard from Stephen Mahoney, Executive Director – Industry Support & Partnerships and Acting Executive Director – Marketing at Destination NSW, on the opportunities linked to Western Sydney International Airport, the importance of shifting consumer behaviour from awareness to conversion, and how the region can continue to strengthen its position as a compelling two-day visitor destination. A highlight of the day was hearing more about Hotel Etico’s Employment and Independence Program, which provides young adults with disability and additional support needs a pathway to paid work, skills development and greater independence. We were also fortunate to hear directly from one of Hotel Etico’s trainees about his experience, growth and future goals. Thank you to Paula Formella - Account Manager at Hostplus - for her update on superannuation and the incoming payday super changes, and to Emilie Howe, GM of eeger, for outlining how employers can use the workforce platform to connect with staff. A big thank you to Hotel Etico Australia & the team at Comfort Resort Leura Gardens for hosting us, to New South Wales Wine Industry Association for supplying the wine and to all members and speakers who contributed to the discussion.
