Impact through the One Percent Movement Recently, 12 coworkers from Academic Work and our sister companies visited our partner, the NGO Response Network, in Zambia to follow up on the projects we support through our One Percent Movement. Every year since 2004, 1% of Academic Work’s profit—together with voluntary 1% salary contributions from our colleagues—has gone toward long-term development through education and infrastructure, built by the communities themselves. We believe education is the foundation for people to grow. It creates opportunities, strengthens communities, and enables sustainable development. In rural areas around Livingstone—where infrastructure is limited—communities are building their own schools through a self-help model. At the same time, our colleagues’ sponsorships enable more than 400 girls each year to attend school—many of whom would otherwise risk early marriage and lack of education. The impact of our One Percent Movement since 2004: 🌟 2,500+ girls supported through sponsorship program 🏫 57 schools developed 📚 100+ classrooms built 💚 19.000+ children attended school due to easier access provided by our support In a challenging global environment, Academic Work continues to deliver profitable results. We are proud to be part of a company that has chosen, for over 20 years, to invest part of its profit in long-term, meaningful impact. Making people grow, in practice.
