FIVE ON FRIDAY by Abojani Investment Hello, and welcome to another Friday! #H1EarningsReview: The first half of 2026 delivered a strong outcome for investors, with several listed companies increasing their dividend payouts on the back of improved earnings. Beyond dividend income, market performance also rewarded shareholders, with the top 10 best-performing stocks on the Nairobi Securities Exchange PLC each posting capital gains of more than 30% during the period. Banking remained the standout sector for income-focused investors, accounting for nearly half of all major dividend declarations as robust FY2025 results translated into healthy cash returns for shareholders. #LeadershipUpdates: Kenya's corporate landscape witnessed a flurry of leadership changes this week, headlined by a major reshuffle in the banking sector. Abdi Mohamed exited Absa Bank Kenya as Managing Director and CEO before being named Chief Executive Officer of I&M Bank Ltd Kenya, subject to regulatory approval, prompting Yusuf Omari's appointment as Interim CEO and Diana Mwaniki's elevation to Acting Chief Financial Officer at Absa. Airtel Kenya also welcomed Djibril Tobe as its new Managing Director, while the Nairobi Securities Exchange PLC ushered in a new era of governance appointing Tom Mulwa as Board Chairman, succeeding Kiprono Kittony, EBS after six years of service. In the listed corporate space, East African Breweries PLC (EABL) appointed Justin Mollel as Executive Director following the resignation of Risper Genga Ohaga, while Diamond Trust Bank Kenya strengthened its board with the appointment of Charles Mukonge Luo as a Non-Executive Director as Messrs. Moez Jamal, Irfan Keshavjee and Guedi Ainache retired from the board. #CapitalMarkets: Safaricom PLC has announced the successful completion of Vodafone Kenya Limited's acquisition of an additional 15% stake from the Government of Kenya. As a result, Vodafone Kenya's shareholding in Safaricom has increased to 55%, while the Government of Kenya's stake has reduced to 20%. Public investors continue to hold the remaining 25%. The transaction was completed on 30 June 2026 through a block trade on the Nairobi Securities Exchange PLC. It also included an internal reorganisation that resulted in Vodacom Group Limited becoming the sole owner of Vodafone Kenya Limited. #NewListing: The TRIFIC SEZ Green USD I-REIT officially listed and commenced trading on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) under the ticker symbol TRFC, following a successful public offer that was 103.3% oversubscribed.
