I'm happy to share the completion of my summer URSS project working in the Sampath Lab with Karuna Sampath at Warwick Medical School! My project was in researching the development of zebrafish embryos - specifically investigating the yolk syncytial layer (YSL). I used techniques such as whole mount in situ hybridisation and immunostaining to compare specific RNA and protein expression between wildtype and mutant embryos. I also performed RNA microinjections, and live imaged to watch YSL development as it happens. I gained valuable experience in the lab, and had a lot of fun working with everyone in the lab group. Special thank you to Heida for supervising and supporting me through my project, and to Karuna for giving me the opportunity :)
