I often reflect on how my time as a government scholarship recipient at Voronezh State University in Russia shaped my entire mission. After studying science in high school, I decided to study Economics in university, story for another day. Graduating Magna Cum Laude and being named the "Best Economics Student (International)" went beyond personal achievement—it opened my eyes to what happens when Ghanaian talent measures up on the global stage. That experience planted the seed for everything we do today. In our work, I've identified what I call the “Opportunity Gap.” Our classrooms have many bright students, but without access to international benchmarks and global networks, their talents can easily go undiscovered, unseen beyond our borders. At the Academic Talent Development Program (ATDP) - Ghana, we focus on creating practical pathways to connect talented students with global excellence. Here’s how we do it: • Leading delegations to over 15 countries, including Singapore, China the USA, and the UK, for International Olympiads in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence where our students compete among the world’s best. • Running platforms like The Sharks Quiz that give young talents national visibility as they prepare for international challenges. • Helping open doors to top universities like Harvard, MIT, UPenn, Imperial, ALU and Ashesi. Our alumni who have studied in over 20 countries are now making their mark at in Fortune 500 companies such as Microsoft, Apple, Nvidia and Amazon. Exposure is a powerful asset. It’s essential for transforming gifted Ghanaian students into globally competitive innovators. 🚀 On this World Creativity and Innovation Day, let’s focus on building these pathways intentionally.
