A really fun "blast from the past" moment today - almost 20 years ago, in my prior life, I had the opportunity to co-lead a NASA summer program for 'potential future leaders' (with the amazing Natacha Chough, MD, MPH, now a bad-a** NASA flight surgeon!), called NASA Academy (https://lnkd.in/gwCmTbFj). We had a very special cohort of young professionals that year - they were already great scientists & engineers, as well as terrific human beings - who remain in touch with each other to this day. Today, it was announced that one of this group, Dr. Lauren Edgar, was selected from a pool of 8k applicants to be a part of NASA's 24th class of astronauts!!!
