Located in the 1922 headquarters of the Port of London Authority, Mei Ume in Four Seasons TrinityTen fuses East and West. AB Concept's design inspiration derived from the building being a window to Eastern culture. In 2018, Mei Ume was the winner of two categories at the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards in the UK Restaurant category and the UK & International Luxury category. In an interview with LuxDeco.com, Ed Ng revealed, “You don’t want to recreate something that is already a hundred years old. Then it becomes a theme park, it’s a cliché. You want something contemporary but that also gives people the illusion of ‘Has it always belonged to here? But why does it look so contemporary?’ I think that is actually the challenge – that’s what makes the whole project interesting.” Ebony-coloured timber and white marble create the grid-patterned flooring of the multipurpose bar and semi-private dining room. To maintain the existing architectural profile of the building, the pavilion-like structure is constructed as an individual piece. The chairs and sofa cushions in the main dining room are covered in red material, celebrating the Chinese heritage, against the elegantly refined greyscale colour palette.
