How can architects create a positive impact on the economy and the environment while creating value for society as a whole? In the Architects' Council of Europe (ACE-CAE)'s second volume of “The Value of Architecture” our Head of Impact, Johanne Mose Entwistle, was interviewed on how we strategically use Post Occupancy Evaluation to document the impact of our buildings and the value created for society. Inspired by sharing economy, we designed Pakhusene to utilise so-called ‘dead space’ by sharing facilities such as meetings rooms, canteen, and auditorium with other organisations. Through the POE, our impact team found that the companies gain far more space and facilities than they pay for by sharing. Furthermore, local people use the gym, shop, and harbour bathing area, showcasing how architecture can create value for the surrounding community.
