Completion of Summer Internship at AGA Health Foundation I am pleased to announce the completion of my two-week summer internship at AGA HF. This experience has been unique, eye-opening, and immensely exciting. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such skilled and knowledgeable medical professionals. During my final week, I rotated between several departments: Emergency Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, and Surgery. In the Emergency ward, I gained valuable insight into the triage system employed at AGA HF. Utilizing the South African triage system, the focus was on efficiency and the prioritization of patients in more critical conditions, ensuring that as many patients as possible received timely care. In the surgical theatre, I had the opportunity to observe procedures such as epigastric hernia repairs and Caesarean sections. I found these experiences particularly rewarding as they allowed me to apply my knowledge of human anatomy, identifying specific anatomical structures and layers in a practical setting. While in the Paediatric ward, I spent a significant amount of time in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), where I observed and learned about the care of infants with congenital diseases. This experience highlighted the importance of specialized care and the challenges faced in treating vulnerable newborns. With the Obstetrics and Gynaecology team, I observed patient consultations and participated in a perinatal death clinical audit. This audit involved a thorough assessment of the causes of perinatal deaths, discussions on potential preventive measures, and the development of strategies to educate expectant mothers on recognizing signs that warrant medical attention. I am incredibly grateful for the enriching experience provided by this internship, which has significantly deepened my understanding of various medical fields and honed my practical skills through hands-on clinical exposure. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Justin Sonaa Dakorah CertIOSH and AGA Health Foundation for organizing this opportunity, offering unwavering support, and welcoming me so warmly. #AGAHealthfoundation
