Promovere: to move forward, promote, further. This June during conferment (promootio) we will be celebrating those who have pushed the limits in the field of technology. ⭐ In the ceremony, the conferred doctors are accepted as full members of the academic community according to tradition; in the field of technology Aalto University also confers honorary doctors and jubilee doctors. The symbol of the inclusion is the notable hat with an emblem: a lyre made of a flame, sym­bolising work and wisdom ‘labor et scientia’, placed inside a steel ring surrounded by a golden laurel wreath. 🎩 The conferment is a festive event with long-standing traditions at Aalto University and its predecessors. Across all Finnish universities, these traditions trace back to medieval Europe and the founding of the first modern universities in Italy and France. This year, this most prestigious of academic events is hosted by Aalto University School of Electrical Engineering.
