The Zenith El Primero powered the Rolex Daytona from 1988 to 2000. Today it sits in a watch that costs a third of one. The Chronomaster Sport runs the El Primero 3600, a 5Hz movement that measures to a tenth of a second, with a central chronograph hand that circles the dial every 10 seconds so the bezel scale is genuinely functional. At around $11,000 retail against a Daytona near $15,000 that trades far higher with a multi-year wait, the value case is hard to argue with.
