Silent Film Director Laurence Trimble's Strongheart - Gary Cooper and Clark Gable were supporting actors to one of the first movie dog stars, Strongheart. This German Shepherd "Police Dog" only appeared in 5 1920s movies, but he inspired books and a dog food brand that still exists today.
