‘Working Matter’ is not an exhibition of answers. It is a space for questions and exploration. At 3XN GXN, we believe that architecture is most meaningful when it emerges from 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 rather than certainty. Our work exists in the space between what architecture knows and what it has not yet allowed itself to ask. We push the boundaries by testing unconventional methods, reaching across disciplines, and sitting with complex questions long enough for new answers to emerge. For 3daysofdesign, we have brought together six design studios that share this way of working. Spanning Denmark, the Netherlands, Slovakia and Kazakhstan, they ask where a material comes from before they ask what shape it should take. They find potential in what has already been used, grow entirely new materials from unexpected sources, extend familiar substances beyond their assumed limits, and recover the intelligence held in traditional craft. They understand that process is not the backstory of a finished object but the work itself.
