Last Thursday was a special night for the new Sydney Fish Market, receiving 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 at the Australian Institute of Architects NSW Chapter Awards! 🔸𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗶𝗿 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗵𝘂𝗿 𝗚 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 🔸𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 🔸𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗲𝗿'𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲 Spanning 90,000m², the new Sydney Fish Market brings together wholesale operations, retail, tourism and civic life within a single waterfront precinct. Set along one of Sydney’s most significant harbour edges, the project was conceived as both essential infrastructure and public destination, a building that supports the demands of a working market while opening the foreshore to broader community use. At the heart of the design is the ambition to reconcile these overlapping conditions: industry and public life, utility and generosity, movement and gathering. The result is a place where the fishing industry remains central, while the harbour becomes more accessible and engaging for workers, locals and visitors alike. To see that ambition recognised means a great deal to everyone involved. Projects of this scale and complexity are only made possible through the commitment of many people across disciplines, teams and organisations.
