As Denmarkโs national and international knowledge centre for climate adaptation, it brings together businesses, researchers, educational institutions and public authorities to address rising water levels and changing weather patterns. Organised across two storeys, the building aligns with the low, pragmatic structures of the #waterfront. Its geometry is simple and measured, allowing proportion and material weight to situate it naturally within the harbour setting. A carved recess in the southern faรงade opens the building towards the harbour, forming a sheltered threshold between wind, water and town. Rather than enclosing its specialised functions, the centre remains outward-looking, present within the everyday life of the harbour. The architecture draws on the areaโs #maritime #heritage without imitation. Wood, concrete and steel reflect the nearby boat halls and industrial buildings, giving the structure a raw and tactile presence. Research and public engagement coexist within the same framework. Offices and meeting spaces occupy the upper level, while the ground floor remains open and adaptable, accommodating exhibitions and a cafรฉ. The surrounding landscape continues this integration of climate and context. Conceived as a Green Climate Corridor, flood protection is absorbed into the terrain rather than separating town from sea. Klimatorium forms part of Lemvigโs waterfront fabric, shaped by maritime tradition and informed by material logic. It stands as both research facility and civic place, where climate, craft and everyday life meet at the waterโs edge. Explore Klimatorium: https://lnkd.in/dTrZpVpU
