"Tim! Come here, quick! Help me sort out the nets!" Uncle John's gruff voice calls from the boat. Tim quickly puts down his pencil. He hurries into the cold seawater and climbs onto the boat. "Yes, Dad!" Tim responds, bending down to help his father untangle the messy fishing net. Uncle John glances at his son, then speaks as his hands work skillfully. "Daydreaming again, eh, lad? You're always staring out at the distant sea." Tim smiles shyly. "I'm just thinking... thinking about how vast our world is, Dad." "Hmm... Vast indeed! Vast enough for small fish like us to make a living our whole lives," Uncle John chuckles softly. "Don't bother your head with other things, son. Just know where the fish are, and what we need to catch 'em, that's enough." Tim doesn't argue. He knows his father speaks of the simple life of a fisherman, but in his heart, he thinks of something much grander. The First Step Towards a Dream One day, a stranger visits the village of #Felixstowe. He is an engineer, surveying the area to plan the construction of a new lighthouse. Tim eagerly approaches him, asking about how to build tall structures and the technology used in construction. The man looks at the boy with a smile and tells Tim stories about the outside world. It is a world of big cities filled with technological advancements. "Sir! How do you build buildings taller than trees?" Tim asks, his eyes gleaming. The young engineer looks at Tim with fondness. "We use knowledge of physics, mathematics, and strong materials, young man. We design them meticulously so they can stand strong against the wind and gravity." "And I... where can I learn about these things?" Tim asks enthusiastically. The engineer smiles broadly. "If you have enough determination, there are schools and universities in the big cities that can teach you these things." That night, as moonlight shimmers on the water, Tim makes a crucial decision. He walks over to Uncle John, who is mending nets in front of their cottage. "Dad..." Tim begins, his voice firm. "I want to leave here. I want to go study in the big city." Uncle John looks up at his son. His face shows signs of worry, but Tim's eyes hold a determination he has never seen before. "Go to the big city, Tim? What will you do there? Our life as fishermen isn't so bad, is it?" Uncle John says in a low voice.
