A design-sprint is like a caffeine-fueled home remodeling show; the blueprints, the user input, the design, more user input, and the build, all done in a ridiculously short period of time—typically two weeks or less. Teams rapidly assess the situation, quickly extract key user insights, and then it’s one big blur of post-it notes and prototypes. Ideas are presented to users, and either discarded or iterated on within a day before retesting. It all wraps up with a final recommended prototype, or in some cases, a finished solution ready for implementation. A Design Sprint is a particularly effective process when there is already sufficient user research on the problem, and at least some of the behavioral barriers/enablers are known.
