The graphic below was fun to build. It also made us feel old. Almost none of these shifts felt inevitable at the time. The technologies that ended up changing everything spent years looking like they wouldn't. This is why the most interesting column isn't 2006 or even 2026. It’s the one not there yet. Our bet: if we do our job right, by 2046, today's AI agents will look as quaint as a PalmPilot; healthcare will be about keeping people healthy, not just treating them when they’re sick (but there’ll still be faxes!); and security will defend itself. And we intend to be part of building one (or three) of the most valuable companies in the chart we’ll create in 2046. Twenty years in, we still get to spend our days with founders who see these shifts sooner than the rest of us. They're the reason we’re more interested in the next twenty years than the last. #406at20
