Title: Safety & Access Advisory: Peaceful Public Gathering in Aden, South Yemen - 4 May 2026 Body: Dear colleagues, Posting in my capacity as a civil society activist from South Yemen to share a safety and access advisory for editorial planning. Event: A large-scale peaceful public gathering is scheduled for Sunday, 4 May 2026, in Al-Oroudh Square, Aden, South Yemen. Context for risk assessment: 1. The event follows documented incidents of civilian casualties in Hadramout Governorate (Dec 2025-Jan 2026) and the killing of peaceful protesters in Mukalla (Mar 2026, including Omar Haidara Bajamaza and Ahmed Ali Al-Mat'hani). 2. Former Defense Minister Maj. Gen. Mohsen Al-Daeri remains detained in Riyadh. Credible reports indicate severe deterioration of his health during detention. A formal complaint has been submitted to UN mechanisms. Request: International media presence is requested to observe and document the gathering to help ensure compliance with Article 21 ICCPR (right of peaceful assembly) and contribute to civilian protection. Logistics: I am based on the ground in Aden and can facilitate contact with victims' families and provide access to legal documentation previously submitted to UN/ICC mechanisms.
