The Role: Mentoring with Purpose

In this full:time role, you will act as a 1:1 specialist for students with ADHD, ASD, and Attachment Disorders.

• Build Therapeutic Alliances: Use a Relational Approach to build trust with students who have disengaged from learning.
• Behaviour Intervention: Implement Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans and help pupils manage emotional triggers.
• Small Group Support: Facilitate Nurture Groups focusing on social skills, resilience, and emotional literacy.
• Progress Tracking: Maintain detailed logs on student engagement to support EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) reviews.

Essential Requirements

To be successful in this SEN Mentor role, you should possess:

• Education/Experience: A degree in Psychology, Sociology, or Criminology OR 1+ years of experience in Youth Work/Social Care.
• Resilience: The ability to handle challenging verbal and physical behaviours with a calm, non:judgemental can:do attitude.
• Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to liaise with parents, teachers, and external healthcare professionals.
• Compliance: An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (we can assist with a new application if required).
