Company Description Ordinary Magic CIC supports children and young people in Solihull and Birmingham to understand and harness their own mental health, develop a strong sense of self, and build resilience for fulfilling lives. The organization delivers timely, effective interventions, including specialist services that help to fill gaps in statutory mental health provision. Multidisciplinary teams offer holistic family support, domestic abuse services, nurture and emotional literacy programs, skills and resilience training for young people, and early years parenting and baby support. Ordinary Magic also provides trauma-informed therapeutic services, including counselling, play therapy, and bereavement support. Services are delivered in schools and community settings through whole school wellbeing events, lessons, enrichment programs, early intervention groups, training for adults, and one-to-one psychotherapy with registered therapists.
Role Description The Specialist SEMH Practitioner is a30 hour a week term time role, based in Solihull, working directly with children, young people, and families to support social, emotional, and mental health needs, in the community. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing SEMH needs, planning and delivering individual and group interventions, and contributing to holistic support plans in collaboration with colleagues and partner agencies. The practitioner will deliver sessions in schools and community settings, such as early intervention support groups, resilience and wellbeing workshops, and family-focused programs, using evidence-informed and trauma-aware approaches. The role involves maintaining accurate records, monitoring outcomes, and providing feedback to schools, referrers, and families, while safeguarding the wellbeing of children and young people. The practitioner will also participate in multidisciplinary meetings, attend supervision and training, and help develop resources and activities aligned with Ordinary Magic’s mental health and resilience-focused ethos.
