About the Role
Legacy Contracting is hiring an experienced Design Consultant to guide homeowners through their remodeling project from the first conversation to the final walkthrough. You’ll lead discovery calls, meet clients in their homes, develop the design vision, define the scope of work, prepare takeoffs, and remain the primary point of contact throughout the entire project. This is an in-person, on-site role in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas.
You won’t be alone in the build phase — our project superintendent manages day-to-day construction activities — but you will stay closely connected to the client, ensuring they feel informed, supported, and delighted from start to finish. This is a design-centered role with a strong understanding of remodeling, not a traditional sales job.
What You'll Do
• Lead initial discovery calls to understand style, goals, budget, and functional needs
• Visit homes across DFW to assess existing conditions, gather measurements, and shape design direction
• Develop design concepts, material selections, and layouts that reflect the client’s vision and the realities of their space
• Build detailed scopes of work and prepare accurate takeoffs for estimating and production
• Present design concepts and recommendations in a clear, confident way
• Serve as the main client contact throughout design and construction
• Provide ongoing updates, clarify questions, and help clients navigate decisions during the build
• Collaborate with the project superintendent to ensure work aligns with the approved design
• Attend key construction milestones and walkthroughs to confirm design intent and support the client
What We're Looking For
• Proven experience in residential remodeling design, especially kitchens and bathrooms
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and remodel sequencing
• Ability to manage both creative design work and technical requirements (measurements, takeoffs, scope development)
• Exceptional communication and client-management skills
• Ability to guide homeowners through choices and expectations without being pushy or sales-driven
• Strong organizational skills; able to manage several active clients and projects
• Comfort with in-home consultations and representing the company on-site
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for local travel
• BONUS - Experience with Chief Architect

• Clients feel confident, heard, and well-supported from the first call through project completion
• Designs are thoughtful, functional, and buildable — with minimal rework
• Scopes of work are accurate and help the superintendent and production team execute smoothly
• Communication is consistent, proactive, and reduces client uncertainty
• You bridge the design vision and the construction reality with clarity and professionalism
Compensation
Total on-target earnings (OTE) are $100k-$150k and include:
• Base salary and competitive commission structure
• Monthly healthcare allowance
• Paid time off & holidays
• Mileage reimbursement for client meetings & site visits
