EMS-CHEMIE is seeking an experienced Production Scheduler – Manufacturing to join our team in Sumter, South Carolina.

This is a full-time, on-site position in Sumter, South Carolina. Employment visa sponsorship and relocation assistance are not available.

This is a highly visible, hands-on position responsible for production scheduling, inventory planning and coordinating the materials needed to keep our U.S. manufacturing operations running efficiently. You will work closely with Production Managers, Customer Service, Sales, external tolling partners and company leadership to balance customer demand, production capacity, inventory levels and delivery commitments.

The ideal candidate is analytical, organized and comfortable making decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You should enjoy working with data, solving production challenges and collaborating across departments to ensure products are manufactured and delivered on time.

What You’ll Do

  • Schedule production lines based on customer demand, production capacity, efficiency and cost.
  • Align production plans with customer requirements to support on-time delivery.
  • Analyze forecasts and demand patterns to minimize small-volume and slow-moving production runs.
  • Develop production-run strategies that optimize output, inventory and operational efficiency.
  • Partner directly with Production Managers to address capacity, scheduling and material concerns.
  • Confirm customer order dates internally and communicate potential scheduling challenges.
  • Monitor feedstock levels and escalate shortages or supply risks when necessary.
  • Analyze inventory requirements for raw materials, packaging and traded goods.
  • Maintain appropriate minimum inventory levels while avoiding excess stock.
  • Coordinate shipments to external tolling facilities and the return of completed products.
  • Work with tolling partners to secure timely deliveries for production and customer orders.
  • Prepare charts, reports, graphs and tables to analyze and communicate supply chain performance.
  • Facilitate and lead production-planning meetings.
  • Maintain clear communication between Production, Customer Service, Sales and company leadership.
  • Support additional supply chain projects and initiatives as assigned.

  • Customer deliveries consistently exceed a 96% on-time delivery target.
  • Production schedules support volume requirements while maximizing line efficiency.
  • Raw-material and packaging inventory remains above established minimum levels.
  • Traded materials are available when needed without creating unnecessary inventory.
  • Tolling partners consistently meet internal production and delivery requirements.
  • Production, Customer Service and Sales receive timely and accurate information.

What You’ll Bring

  • At least four years of production-scheduling or production-planning experience.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, production or supply chain environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and adjust quickly as production requirements change.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence facilitating meetings and working with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and warehouse or inventory-management systems.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Previous purchasing or logistics experience is helpful but not required.
  • Availability to work additional hours when business or production needs require it.
